Normally a £40 bet would now be placed. With the limit this is impossible.

We will now place two £20 bets. When two bets are placed, the possible outcomes are as follows:

Let’s look at each case individually:

WIN LOSE - we win £20 and lose £20 – we are still down £35

My advice is firstly to find a table / game with either no limit or choose the highest limit you can find. Also, keep your bets much lower than the limit. A starting bet of an eighth of the limit (e.g. with a limit of £20, using an initial bet of £2.50) will be won before having to ‘double bet’ on 15/16 times – 93.75% of the time.
